From December through March, Poznań enters its harshest, most introverted season. Temperatures routinely hover around freezing or dip below it, biting winds sweep down the River Warta corridor, and direct sunshine becomes a rare luxury, often amounting to just two hours a day. Despite the dismal weather, visitor numbers stay surprisingly high, sustained by industrial trade fairs and business traffic.
The sole winter bright spot lands in December, when the Poznan Christmas Market transforms the Old Market Square into a glowing maze of timber stalls, scenting the freezing air with spiced wine, smoked sheep’s cheese, and roasted nuts against the illuminated facade of the Town Hall.
